Electrical work in Essen

In many Essen homes the wiring from the reconstruction years is still hidden behind the wallpaper. Our expert team modernises installations in occupied housing as well as in offices and commercial premises across the Ruhr area.

On site

What matters in Essen

A large share of housing in Essen was rebuilt quickly after the war. In Holsterhausen, Frohnhausen, Altenessen or Steele you therefore still find installations with few circuits, old screw-in fuses and cables without a protective conductor. Colliery houses were altered bit by bit over generations, so several wiring standards exist side by side. Night storage heaters are also typical of the Ruhr area, and removing them affects the meter cabinet. In the office buildings of the Südviertel and the practices of Rüttenscheid, the topics are data cabling, efficient LED lighting and testing while business continues.

All electrical projects in the Ruhr area are coordinated by our head office on Ruhrallee in Essen. On request, the expert team of the electrical division surveys the existing installation on site, opens distribution boards, checks cable routes and discusses what is needed now and what can wait. Throughout the job you have one contact person who coordinates dates with tenants, managers and other trades. On that basis you receive a free, non-binding quote with clearly described items.

Focus areas

Typical jobs in Essen

  1. Renewing post-war wiring safely

Where a protective conductor or residual current device is missing, we modernise in stages: first the board and protective devices, then circuits for kitchen, bathroom and living rooms.

  2. Removing night storage heaters

When old storage heating is replaced, the meter position and circuits change. We plan the conversion with our plumbing and heating division and clarify registration with the grid operator.

  3. Offices and practices in operation

In the Südviertel and Rüttenscheid we lay data cables, switch luminaires to LED and test systems in the evening or floor by floor, so your business keeps running.

  4. One partner for property managers

Stairwell lighting, door entry, cellar distribution: managers with buildings in several Ruhr cities report jobs to one place and receive clear documentation for every visit.

FAQ

Frequent questions from Essen

Your question is not listed? Call us or send us a message – we answer personally.

My house in Essen still has night storage heaters – what does that mean for the wiring?

Night storage heaters usually run on their own heavily fused circuits and a separate meter or tariff switch. When you change to another heating system these parts are removed, and the meter cabinet often has to meet current requirements. We check the installation on site and show you which cables can stay in use.

Who coordinates work on the meter cabinet with the grid operator?

Changes to the meter position must be registered with the local grid operator, and a meter swap needs an agreed date. We handle this coordination as part of the job. You learn in advance when the power will be off and for how long, so tenants, practice or office can prepare.

Do you also look after properties outside Essen?

From the head office in Essen our team works throughout the Ruhr area, including Mülheim an der Ruhr, Oberhausen, Bottrop, Gelsenkirchen, Bochum and Duisburg. For property managers we bundle recurring tests and repairs for several buildings into shared appointments, which saves journeys and simplifies coordination with tenants.
